It may be one of the last things which comes to mind for many looking to break into real estate investing but top earning real estate investors recognize the incredible importance of great customer service and the direct link between how good they are at it and their success.
Many surge to real estate investing in hunt of big paychecks, fast money and an easy way to pay for all the toys they desire. While it can bring all of this and it can be tempting to follow the habits of those hard selling boiler room types who ?appear? to be successful and have little care for other individuals, this is an extremely short term strategy in today?s wired world.
Giant banks and phone companies may get away with completely forsaking customer service and thriving on greed but they have little competition and a ton of capital to buy themselves out of trouble. Most real estate investors don?t have those luxuries.
Besides just being the right thing to do, committing to great customer service is just great business. Just compare the loyalty, referrals and sharing and longevity created by higher customer satisfaction rates versus the high cost of having to constantly battle for new leads with outbound marketing and having to fix online reputation which results from poor customer service.
How can you separate your real estate investing business from the rest with better customer service? More transparency, faster response rates and packing in more value is a good start. However, good customer service requires going above and beyond at every level and make sure your staff have great attitudes too. This means it all starts with being a part of your company?s core vision and values and should be kept in check at every point from hiring to running ads. Everyone needs to be on board and even a single bad apple can ruin your reputation in a day.
Good or satisfactory isn?t good enough either. Every touch and interaction has the potential to blow customers and partners away and turn them into raving fans that will market for you and keep coming back for life. Anything less than excellence won?t even be remembered.
The bad news is that an elite level of customer experience is tough to maintain unless it comes from the heart and is authentic. Take a moment and think about the other than monetary rewards this type of mindset can offer in terms of creating a legacy and really making a difference in individuals? lives and helping the country.
If you just don?t have that in you and aren?t that deep, then skip to the fast cash, crash and burn, do whatever it takes tactics but make sure you are already planning what you are going to do for a career next and maybe even where you are going to stash your nest egg while behind bars.
If this all sounds too fluffy to you take a hard look at the few real estate investing companies, Realtors, title companies and mortgage professionals who are still standing since the last bubble and where the rest are?
