Clients from Phoenix House?s Lake Ronkonkoma Campus, Hauppauge Center, Brentwood Outpatient and East Hampton Outpatient programs, participants?in our Connections Program sessions, joined for a special Couples Lunch event on Long Island.
The Connections Program teaches couples the skills to strengthen their bond and cope as a partner undergoes drug addiction treatment and recovery as a Phoenix House client. Sessions help couples rebuild their relationships and families shattered by substance and alcohol abuse, as they move towards renewing their trust and commitment to each other. Relationship enhancement activities encourage positive feelings conducive to sobriety, and offer them the ?chance to develop and share healthy sober activities. The couples? steady dedication to each other during these important life-changing sessions helps strengthen the reunification process. Gift bags were distributed with note cards, thank you cards, gift cards, and activity books for free, low cost events in Suffolk County for partners to share as an extension of Caring Day, a concept learned in past sessions. Caring Day assignments have offered and taught clients to plan a surprise for their partner or plan a date for a special activity; setting aside special sharing activities is therapeutic to the healing process.
The road to recovery is a difficult one; we are dedicated to support, enhance, and educate the healing process for all family members to overcome addiction and sustain healthy lives for the future.
